21

Heyy everyone so here’s the cake I made!! I thought it would be a cute idea since it's here 21st birthday and yes the Barbie is throwing up rainbow sprinkles! Hah I also made the cake rainbow inside as you can see! It was super easy; I just separated them into different containers then colored them each a different color. After that just poured them in one at a time and made it look flowerish by dragging a straw from each corner to the middle! It turned out pretty well as you can see! Since we have no oven in my apartment we cooked this bad boy in the toaster oven and totally worked! Anyways so that is my cake that I wanted to show you guys but I still have a lot to do tonight before I go to bed so I'm going to go! Thanks for reading!

Wallabies vs. All Blacks

Hello everyone! So I’ll get straight to the point with my post today! On Saturday we went to the Wallabies vs. All Blacks rugby game and it was so awesome. In this picture the All Blacks are doing their famous Hakka War dance that they do before every game ( I tried to upload a video of this but it didn’t work but I’m putting it on my Facebook wall if you want to check it out!). The game was a blast too I went with Kate, my roommate Mik, and their friend Claire. We basically pigged out on hotdogs, fries, and beers the whole time hah. The All Blacks ended up winning 27 to 19, so it was a pretty good game. The fans were pretty wild but there was probably an even number of people routing for each team, which was pretty cool. We were planning on going out after the game but after all the food, beer and a 30 min train ride home we decided to call it a night. Since we didn’t make it out Saturday we are going out tonight! Its Kate’s 21st birthday at midnight so we are going to go out and celebrate even though we did throw a party for her birthday at my place Friday too! We are going to give it another go because the party we had for her on Friday was ended by security because it was too loud, totally worth it though. So now I have to get ready for tonights birthday celebration, that is why I am going to make this post fairly short because I have a ton to get done today. I have to do my readings for class, finish my print for printmaking, and then we are making Kate a cake for her birthday! Really excited to do because I have a great theme for it and rather than telling you what it is, I’ll take a picture of it tonight and then post it hopefully tomorrow! Anyways I’m going to get going because I have a lot to get done! Have a good night! I will hopefully be posting a little something tomorrow!

A Whole Month!

Helllo everyone! Sorry I know I haven’t posted in a whole week, I guess I have just gotten a bit lazy about but I will try to be better this week! Also on the plus side of me not posting all week means me posting lots of pictures this post! Something that I realised today is that I have been here for a whole MONTH! It’s so crazy and would explain why I'm starting feel like I don’t have anything to talk about on here because it’s actually starting to become like a 'home' for me. I am really beginning to make good friends here! Like me, Kate and her friends have become pretty close but I have also become good friends with a lot of people from surf camp and they are from all over the world, which is really cool. Anyways this past week was pretty normal I got to go to all my classes and tutorials for the first time! I think this semester is going to be great I'm really going to strive for straight A's since I only have 3 classes. Printmaking is awesome, I really enjoy it and it is pretty easy depending on how hard she grades our projects. And my other classes seem to be pretty interesting especially gender ethics, it really makes you look at gender in a way you never really though about. Greek myth isn't anything special but it seems like it will be pretty easy, so thats good. I put a picture of my first lino plate that I did for printmaking but this was just practise to get used to crosshatching to shade. Hah and yes it is a butt, the reason I did that is because the theme of the whole class is surrealist view on the human body.

Anyways that’s enough of school this weekend I finallyyyy went to The Rocks which is where the Bridge and Sydney Opera House is! So I put those pictures up so you can see my tourist pictures! I also went to The Pancake House there and it was amazing!! As you can see from the picture I posted. And then outside of the Pancake House there was a little market after that was really cool and that is where I saw the cute dogs in the picture. It was great I haven’t got to a play dog in a month so it was nice to see one and the puppy was seriously the cutest thing ever ha as you can see. After that I'm definitely have to go to more markets in hopes of seeing more puppies’ haha! Luckily one girl we went with to the pancake house is Australian so she was telling us all of the markets and stuff to go to. Over all after the first month I can say I am having an AMAZING time, there a few times when I get homesick but it’s worth all of the fun I'm having over here

Motivational Monday

Its already time for another Motivational Monday this week, as I will probably end up doing every week I’m stealing the Motivational Monday quote from my friend Drew Stanich. Here it is “Successful people aren’t born that way. They become successful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don’t like to do. The successful people don’t always like these things themselves; they just get on and do them.” How you do anything is how you do everything. For me this quote is perfect because I am starting my school year and hopefully this will motivate me to keep up with my school work and not just get lost in the ‘abroad’ part of studying abroad. Anyways I would like dedicate today’s post to my two AMAZING sisters Jenna and Stephanie, who hopefully will be coming to visit soon (nudge nudge Mom and Dad) Anyways the reason this I'm dedicating it to them is because on Saturday I did things that reminded me both of them and that I wish they were both here for! First I’ll start with Stephanie! As I said before we went to a street market that’s every first Saturday of the month and it was so awesome! The reason it remind me of Steph so much was because all of the tents there were selling vintage clothing! Some of the clothes were straight up vintage and others were remade vintage clothing. This reminded me of Steph because she sells vintage clothing, well we all do but she really does all of the work for it and even was selling in a shop at IU! So when she does come and visit I'm sure we will be going there because I know she will LOVE it! Oh and that is where my picture is from in the vintage sunglasses!

Then the next one is Jenna hers is pretty simple, one Jenna’s very favorite meals is a beer and a burger and on Saturday I had my very first one here! I got my burger from a really good place and it had bacon (which is really like ham in the US), avocado, mango, lettuce, and tomato. It was surprisingly very good! But it made me think of Jenna and I knew she would be proud so I thought I would take picture of it and put on here for her! Anyways that was pretty much it! I will write to you all soon! Hope my little motivational quote helps you through your Monday!
Jenna & Steph- I miss you guys both soooo much and we need to catch up we haven’t got to talk the whole time I have been here! I love you both soo much!

Back to School

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted all week! I started classes this week and everything was a bit hectic! Figuring out which classes I want to take and when and how to find them, the website they have here is impossible to find stuff, very annoying. I'll get straight to the point with the picture! Since you probably can’t read the tiny text in the picture, it says that I have got approved for an au$3,000 scholarship from The University of Sydney and I am very excited about it! I applied for it in like April so I really just figured I didn't get it but on Wednesday I got this email saying I did! I really was very stressed out this week trying to figure out my classes so this was just the thing to boost my mood! Any ways on to my week it was good for the most part as I said though very stressful. I feel like a freshman in high school again. I missed two of my classes’ already just cause I couldn't find the room they were in. And going into a classroom where you know no one is a lot scarier than I remember. It most likely has to do with the fact that I’m in another country so I feel extra out of place, luckily everyone here is super nice. I’m just glad the first week is over! It’s awesome though because I’m pretty sure I'm only going to end up having classes on Wednesday and Thursday! Those days are going to be a pain but it does mean I have 5-day weekend! The classes I am taking are printmaking (which was really fun the first day), gender ethics, youth cultures, and Greek mythology! All are intro level classes but I don’t know how easy they will be. Here schooling is very different, you are expected to do a lot on your own its not as guided as in the US. Like in every single one of my classes we only have 3 or 4 major writing assignments and that's it, no homework or anything. So that will take some getting used to. But for the most part I am excited for the school year beginning getting some structure in my week. I also just joined the gym so I am going to start working out on Monday too! Looking forward to it kind of ha but I will be writing soon! Tomorrow we are going to a street fair so I'm sure I will have stories and pictures to share!
